Spirulina is a wild growing alga, which resides in warm waters around the world since 3.5 billion years. It was first consumed by Chinese, South American and African inhabitants. It is rich in nutrients. It’s green color is a result of chlorophyll content, which has purifying capabilities.
Spirulina is a good source of easily absorbed protein (protein content is around 50-75%), vitamins and minerals (e.g. magnesium, potassium, folic acid, manganese, zink, coper, calcium , vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, E and vitamin C). It contains more B-group vitamins then fruits or vegetables. It contains more iron than any kind of meat. This alga is one of the rich sources of amino acids among foods. Amino acids are responsible for building up muscles, brain functions, ensure good well being and health. In addition, high beta carotene and other carotenoids content strengthens immune system. Gamma-linolenic acid contained in spirulina reduces cholesterol, which helps in prevention of heart disease, vascular system, and high blood pressure problems. Chlorophyll and phycocyanin ensure proper digestion. Thanks to dietary fiber, spirulina can be used as support for weight loss, despite it does not reduce appetite. Additional positive feature of spirulina is its low glycemic index.

When thinking about health diet, most people get alarmed whenever seeing word ‘fat’. It is often considered as one of our enemies in getting a fit body. Therefore, fat is often avoided, but should it be?
Fats, in different forms, are necessary for human body, because many vitamins are dissolvable in fat, and only in that form they are absorbed. It is worth consuming fat contained in fish, nuts, or seeds, also during diet. In the recipes presented on this website we often use various oils, and we have realized, that not all are popular, thus we would like to briefly describe those oils that we like to use.

Chanterelles are characteristic mushrooms, that can be found in many places in Europe. There are growing near different types of trees. They are hard and have a subtle flavor making them suitable for many dishes.
During autumn walks in forest it is good to have a look around to find them. However, if you are not sure whether the mushrooms you pick are edible for sure, it is a good idea to have them checked by professionals. Alternatively, it’s always an option to purchase them directly from a store, an option that I do exercise myself frequently. I don't know the mushrooms well, so I prefer not to take any risks.

It can be found more and more frequently in supermarkets and stores with health food. The name itself, garam masala, means "hot spices". This is a spice mix originating from India and as such it’s irreplaceable in Indian cuisine. It gives amazing flavor and aroma to the dishes. It is usually added at the end of cooking to add sharpness to the dish. Its content differs depending on the origin. Part of the ingredients are roasted on a dry frying pan to extract the aroma, then all the ingredients are grinded together. Of course freshly prepared mixture is the tastiest. Keept in sealed container can be stored even for half a year. It is an excellent addition to, for instance, meats, marinades, sauces, vegetables as well as to fishes. It combines well with yogurt. I encourage you to try this spice either in a ready form or self-prepared one. Ingredients needed for its preparation are listed below.
